Our campaign to improve pay, terms and conditions at Amazon began on February 13 2013, when we staged numerous protests outside Amazon sites across the UK. This action continued a regular basis throughout the year, culminating in BBC Panorama conducting an investigation which aired on November 25; conditions throughout Amazon were noted as a cause of ‘mental and physical illness’ to members of staff.

In the years that followed, Amazon continued to pay their staff poorly, and showed a clear lack of care where conditions were concerned. An investigation we conducted between 2015 and 2017 found that ambulances were called out 115 times at Amazon’s Rugeley site, and across the country more than 600 serious health and safety incidents were reported.

Despite Amazon's disdain for its workers, we have and will continue to champion our members rights and put pressure on Amazon to clean up their act. That is why over the years we have achieved several successes in the face of adversity, such as our groundbreaking victory against UK Express for workers who deliver for Amazon, whereby workers were offered compensation of around £20,000.

Now we are on the brink of achieving unionisation, with Amazon workers striking on a regular basis, whilst we apply for mandatory union recognition on their behalf. We are the only union in the UK who is standing up to Amazon and its poor practices.

We will never stop fighting for our members at Amazon!
